i believe i might have started this thread bout mouse probs... and i too
was directed to this thread by monty! who bless him really did try to resolve it for me, however i am still not able to enable mouse in mame "cheyenne" game...

i reckon it's related to "xp" platform! as it used to work in win 95" 98" era!

here's a challenge for ya's... if anyone can get mouse to work in "cheyenne" using "mame 32" (not command prompt) version on "xp" i will be the first to admit i was wrong...

cheers Alan!

Within Mame, Right click on the game and choose controller tab... there is option to enable mouse... if you cant click it id guess mouse support isn't available with that rom set

The mouse will work with Cheyenne in MAME32. Check the enable mouse box, run the game. Press F1 to en/disable the crosshairs. use the tab menu/input (this game) to remap the controls.

The Tick box for me is greyed out so i cant tick it.

would this be because of the version i use?

Could be... You're using 0.61 aren't you? Try upgrading to the current version, but be prepared for half your ROM collection to need updating, or keep 0.61 as well.

Have you tried using command line MAME? The runtime options are in the mame\docs\windows.txt.

c:\program files\mame>mame cheyenne -mouse

just some useless info operation wolf is the only game mentioned in the original post that would allow you to use the mouse as a lightgun input...

Of course: Cabal uses a trackball and Blood Brothers uses a digital joystick.

Other gun games like Alien 3 the Gun, Gunblade, Silent Scope 1 & 2 and Terminator 2 use a big, gun shaped joystick... the on-screen reticle is a dead giveaway. :)

Given the atrocious slackness of many arcade operators in calibrating their lightgun games this isn't necessarily a bad thing, although nothing compares to a well-calibrated lightgun for accuracy and speed. I *love* Virtua Cop 2, the Time Crisis series (even though I suck at all of them except for 1) and Point Blank 1 & 2.

i recently got Crisis Zone for my PS2...with a slightly modified lightgun... (don't ask)... on the mame side ... i'm pretty handy on the point blank series.though to be honest i've never played any light gun game in an arcade that wasn't calibrated correctly...YAY SA!!!!!

p.s. there's a lightgun game on mame that's starts upside down... i think it's a "western" themed game like vitua cop...

damn crisis zone is fun just going on a rampage with the machine gun, virtua cop 2 and time crisis 2 will always be my favorites though.

I used to easily get through VC2 and TC1 with two or three lives left. I had way too much time on my hands... :)

haha its not a good run through time crisis 2 if i use more than one credit i have virtua cop 1 and 2 for the pc so i can get practice in to make the arcade ones easier =D

Crisis zone is from the same guys what brung us Time crisis.... but instead of hiding behind "objects" u get to hide behind a metal shield that stops tank fire... if ever us gamers get drafted...we're so unprepared... has anone played house of the dead 3 or 4... well i forget which one exactly but the one where u have a shottie... reloading involves pumping the stock.....

yikes... he must have super-vision... or at least be under it..... hehehehehehe
i should be PUNished... yep i does take a while but it's so much more gratifying....

i played a random shooter recently you appear to be on some type of hover unit... and fly around new york destroying metal assisins... the feedback on the huge arcade mounted machine gun was incredible... i can't seem to remember the name now...but i know the game is not supported on mame as yet.,...

I think thats gun blade, its over ten years old though you sure its not emulated?? Your in a police hopper lying round the city killing all androids with rocket launchers and the like, That game is a bit too easy methinks i completed it on my third credit first try... come to think of it i don't think thats the name :/

i think that's the name... i is pretty easy...but the feedback on the gun was a big draw for me... i'm pretty sure it's still not emulated
