Hi

Fairly new to the world of MAME roms. I am finding that some ROMs I download just don't work, and wondered if I'm doing something wrong. For example, Kung Fu Master - when I launch the game I get the message about copyright, type OK, then the screen just goes grey and stays like that. Similar problems with others. But most of the ROMs just work fine. Any ideas?? Thanks!

did you try to toggle the throttle and see if it pushes thru? Is it a working rom? Do you have the proper BIOS files if need be? Is your CPU being bogged down by other processes? i dunno anymore man... i just try to help...

It's a working rom as far as I know. Have tried several different versions of KFM and none of them work. Don't you normally get an error message on launching the rom if you don't have the bios files? And I've tried pressing all the buttons and wiggling the joystick too.

hmmm try updating the MAME version to the latest... i havent been around in awhile but try that... or degressing to a few versions before... (if you dont have the bios files the game will not audit properly)

I think I already have the newest version (097b) and have also tried several older MAME versions. I sense I'm doomed!

For me, Kung-Fu Master works fine for me with MAME version 097b. I just played it and it worked just like it did with my older MAME32 emu. For some reason when I started it, Service Mode was turned ON, so I turned it off and reset the game and it started working, but the screen didn't turn grey, so I'm not sure if that is or isn't your problem.

Also, make sure that you downloaded kungfum.zip which is the parent rom. If you downloaded kungfub.zip, kungfub2.zip, kungfud.zip, or spartanx.zip, then the game won't work because you don't have the parent rom.

Ah, we have a caps lock fan. Read the rules, ReanimatioN. Also take note: Playing with caps in names may have been cutting edge in the early '80s (eg: dIRE sTRAITS) but it is not so today.

That said, don't be scared off or take offence, just play nice.

I guess English is his second language or he's really stupid.....

Hey, apart from a few words of Spanish and French left over from high school English is my *only* language, so kudos to anyone who speaks more than one.

However, using all caps is such a basic no-no that I'm surprised that *anyone* does it.

In fact, I'd really like to see the caps lock key gone from keyboards. It is useless, and if it was removed then the tab key could be lowered one row to be perfectly symmetrical with enter. Is logical, no?

1) Guys, if the game runs then he has all the files. Otherwise it wouldn't audit right.

2) I have the same problem with Raiden. What seemed to work for me was to set the game to open in a window rather than go full screen. Try that.

Silverblade is right.....cause ma language is spanish.......but I don't get it what he said about ''playing with caps''...cause if it was for write in caps on...I was in rush....and If it is for my name...that's the name of linkin park's cd numbre 3....[Reanimation].......Y se escribe asi mismo.......so...if you don't like how I write...JUST DON'T READ ME THEN

kudos

noun {U}
public admiration that a person receives as a result of a particular achievement or position in society.

Relax, Reanimation- Kudos is a good thing.

We're way off topic here so I'm not going to say anything else.

How do I do that? I am using MAME in DOS, so when you launch the game it just defaults to full screen. I tried Alt/Tab to switch applications, but having done that you can't right click on the "MAME" icon on the toolbar at the bottom of the screen, only the DOS window.

When you are about to play the game, instead of just typing "mame raiden", you can type "mame raiden -window" and that will run the game in a window instead of fullscreen.

That was a spam post and had absolutely nothing at all to do with the topic. Please do not post unless you have something to add to the topic.

As for opening Kung Fu Master in a window, just add -window to the command line.
