Sheng Long was never actually in a SF game.
The magazine EGM years ago put out an April Fool's joke that you could unlock him and it started an urban legend about it though.

In the Chinese language, Sheng Long means "rising dragon." In Street Fighter and beyond, Sheng Long is known as the "Rising Dragon Punch" for the fighters Ryu and Ken Masters. Ryu refers to this attack as "Sheng Long," and people were puzzled over what this meant.

such a character doesn't exist, but most of the people have thought this was real.BUT in chinese tradition is is said The unbeatable. He is the best fighter on the Universe

wait wait wait... hold the phone i thought Shen Long was their master...cause i am pretty sure that Akuma had something to do with his death... he was the 3rd pupil...

that's were sean comes from, Ken decided to be a Master after his master died... anyway...i'm going to Google him see what transpires

he he
no bad words for anyone

just peace

n as far as UNLOCKING the SHENG is concerned here is the METHOD but untested

Street Fighter 2 - The World Warrior (for SNES)

Select Ryu as a character and play him through the entire game. Do not get hit while fighting the final round against M. Bison. Also, do not hit him during this time. Both fighters must go through ten rounds without touching each other. Then, Sheng Long will appear and toss M. Bison off the screen. The timer will remain at 99, allowing a deathmatch between Ryu and Sheng Long to begin

Where'd you here that, thats impossible......people just keep thinking up near impossible ways to unlock him, like defeat all enemies with light punch without getting hit.....when are people gonna realize its all bull.....he doesnt exsist....Sheng long was a made up martail art driving force (dragon) exclusive to Ryu/ken ...hence -"YOU MUST DEFEAT SHENG LONG TO STAND A CHANCE"...

dude i found the same thing...the only thing i could confirm is that Akuma/Gouki is his brother...that's right Ken and Ryu's Sensei has a nut for a brother (no offense to GouRki) i got this off the Moves list for Street Fighter:The Movie off Akuma's bio ....

as far as i can tell it is bull, can also confirm the April Fools part...

Serious has anyone not cheated and had Bison not touch them??????

So, because I was bored and got interested in this Sheng Long thing since Ryu is my favorite Street Fighter character... I tried to do the whole thing where you would play against Sheng Long using ZSNES... and it isn't true. First, it would be impossible to do it on a real SNES because M. Bison has two attacks that will do damage even if you are blocking, which means I had to use the Rewind feature just to finish a round. Second, the rounds don't continue past round three, after the third Draw Game, the game takes you to the Continue Game screen, and then you have to choose a fighter and start the fight over.

Thats right, but I think its actually 4 rounds, because if you get a double KO in round 3 it goes to "Round Final" (round 4)....

Dont waste time trying to fight Sheng Long.....you'll probably find a hundred different sites each with a hundred different ways to unlock him.....same goes for the stories of who he is.....Capcom just messed around with things when the rumours began, like putting a guy called Fei Long in SSF2..then the Akuma/Gouki stories in the later games....and the voice when Ryu and Ken train in SF manga is another throw of....

Think about it this way, if Ryu says-"YOU MUST DEFEAT SHENG LONG TO STAND A CHANCE".....then hes saying you must defeat my master to beat me.....which just doesnt make sense.....

Everyone who knows the truth knows that Sheng Long is a spiritual dragon mastered art...so when Ryu says his taunt he means you must crack his martial art to stand a chance...

If any of this was really true, don't you think somebody would have a screen-shot somewhere.

M. Bison touched me... <sob>

Simply looking through the game's code would tell you if Sheng Long existed. And he doesn't. As said before, Ryu is actually referring to his technique. In fact, I'm pretty sure he's talking about the shoryuken in particular.

Edit: and please quote if you're going to rip something off a website sheng.

i think he is in street fighter 3...also Ken and Ryu's teacher is called Gouken... so i concur about it being his Dragon Punch, then why is it Ken uses it more?

Ryu and the Hado principle

The difference between Ryu's and Ken's moves are as follows: Ryu has the ability to use the Shakunetsu Hadoken (Scorching Surge Fist), his Shoryuken does only one hit, but can knock the opponent out (literally the Shoryuken does the most damage while the fist is still rising up), and his Tatsumakisenpukyaku can knock down an opponent. Ryu focuses more on the discipline's Hado principle.

So, according to that quote and something that I read somewhere else, Ryu didn't focus on learning the Dragon Punch as much as Ken and Akuma. I figure that this is also why Ken and Akuma always have a powerful Dragon Punch as their super move, but Ryu always has a powerful Hadouken as his super.

I never noticed that before.....I always wondered whats the difference between ken and Ryu and just thought Ken was a little faster....but now I know what to look for it does stand out alot now...so Kens hurricane kick is a multi hit and Ryu's is a single hit knock down ...that explains why between the 2 of them somtimes their specials cant be blocked.....good to know..

i am guessing you guys have forgotten about street fighter ex? Ryu has a Max hurricane kick that keeps hitting you not just one hit..
