Tekken for MAME: Missing in action?

Greetings all.

I just downloaded MAME 0.76b; and my delight at seeing Tekken 1 & 2 promoted to "working" status rapidly faded... I can't find a single site out there with the ROMs.

If anyone knows where I can find them, or the roms for Aliens Vs Predator arcade, I'm sure that they'll get my undying gratitude.

As far as I know, www.mame.dk no longer exists, and www.rom-world.com doesn't have the Tekken roms (I looked).  I think it does have the Aliens vs. Predator rom though.  Not sure.

Heres a whole list of sites, though some may not work and most probably won't have the roms you're looking for, but its worth a shot, right?

Oh, there is one more, but as of right now, the site is down and it requires a bit of effort to get roms, but I got a lot from there before.

What you do for this site, replace the ######## with the zip name of the rom (minus the .zip, and I don't know what it is for tekken, but you should be able to find out with &quot;mame -listfull &gt; list.txt&quot; or so on the command prompt), click the download links, then register with the provider (its free) with basic service (unless you want to pay). *Then you can download all the roms from there you want.

It is a lot, but it worked for me. *And it'll have to be after the site is working again (I hope it does).

Well, I've yet to land on a favorite game, per se.

A majority of the games I've played (which are fighters and shooters) I've enjoyed.

But if I had to pick a favorite...

I'd have two, and, humorously enough, neither are from the previously mentioned genres.

Dungeons and Dragons: Shadow over Mystara
Dungeons and Dragons: Tower of Doom

I enjoy those two very much.

You can get Tekken and Tekken 2 from that page (though both have split roms). &nbsp;All you need to do is download all the file splits and combine the zips.

I'll keep looking for Aliens vs. Predator.

are you sure this game exists for MAME? i have updates up to .74 (didn't post them on the site yet) and I dont see any tekken roms. do you know the name of it?

Tekken does exist for MAME 0.76b; but not for 0.73

I have a sneaking suspicion that Namco (?) has gone out of its way to squash anyone offering the ROMs: given that handhelds (phone/PDAs) that'll be available in the next year or two will be able to run it; so they can milk it some more.

I think Tekken is also on PS2.

no problem Joe. I downloaded alien vs. predator, and I think it rules. a little easy, but still very good. Do you know of any other good games like that for mame? I've been searching, but I can't seem to find what I wuld consider the BEST mame rom out there (except for metal slug of course)

DBZ 1 &amp; 2 are ok... Super tough, but I've only played them for 30 mins after DLing them yesterday.

Bionic commando (ROM bionicc) is an older (&quot;83ish) quirky but fun platform/ shooter; Don't laugh but Sailor Moon is actually a halfway decent side scrolling beat em up similar in play style to Alien vs Predator and another game whose name slips my mind...

I DLed Metal Slug 1; Very cool. Never played it before. Pretty frantic gameplay. I'll try for the rest of the series tonight.

Anyhoo, I have to install a DVD ROM drive so's I can watch Matrix reloaded (again) after work tonight.

The Tekken driver is *not* working under MAME 0.76b for Tekkenb.
However, the site Chaos the Eternal mentioned has a lot of later games. The combined Tekken B romset there seems OK. We'll just have to wait for the unknown wizards to release a working driver. *<img src="http://www.mlanime.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':rolleyes:'>

As for Aliens Vs Predator, I got it from here:

A bit slow, but I got it in the end.

Now, a game that you may like: Gods for the Amiga. I must have wasted days on this platform/ shooter with a basic inventory, a wide selection of weapons and a &nbsp;puzzle or two to mix things up a bit. If you can find an emulator an kickstart ROMs, go for it as Gods is up to the standard of late &quot;80s coin-ops.;)

No problem Joe. The search sites can turn up with alot of cr@p, but if you stick with it, and go to each and every site (except the ones you know aren't good) eventually you'll find a good one. (also, the new yahoo is sponsor run. If the site doesn't pay Yahoo!, then it goes to the back of the list. Use google instead)

Meh, their selection is horrible. They barely have any sidescrolling beat-em-ups, and it's in a different language. I think I'll stick to shareaza.

Point taken... I have also found a few corrupt .zips from them.

I did find a few ancient gems, though: Choplifter, Elevator Action, Qix...

Now, MAME 0.77 is out, Tekken is working but has no sound as yet: **But** the frame rate is terrible on my machine (An Athlon XP 2000 with 1/2 gig DDR 266 &amp; 64 MB Geforce 3 Ti 200).

I've read on this site ** that using Linux on a x86 system gives *much* better results. So, I think I'll just have to bite the bullet and find the MAME source, a C compiler and a Linux distro that I know I have rattling around. Maybe then I can play Tekken at &gt; 4 FPS &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mlanime.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/icon_sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

Captain Commando is pretty cool, Right now I've been getting into the Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat series. &nbsp;<img src="http://www.mlanime.com/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/icon_cool.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':cool:'>

I'll let you know how I go with the Linux thing.

The only way I could see Linux as working better is decreasing CPU use, but that won't help your FPS enough to seriously affet the game. Use the frameskip option. If you press F8 and F9 (or maybe it's F9 and F10) it'll increase/decrease the frameskip.
