Black Jack is one of those rare mysterious anime. Currently there's a few OVAs put there and a 1997 Movie edition. Black Jack is a renegade surgeon of utmost brilliance and near zero emotion. Long ago, after an accident, a friend performed a surgery on him to save his life, hence the face with 2 skins. Perhaps this has caused him his family and this forced him to become a renegade doctor. Where other doctors failed he will succeed. All his stories are titled as a clinical chart, showing us viewers new diseases or some old diseases in which Dr. Black Jack has to tackle on his own. Usually, to add some spice to the story, patient's psychological and emotional struggles are featured within the series. The finale towards the end of each OVAs are unexpected and usually needs Black Jack to perform some miracles or unorthodox surgery to cure a patient or reveal the insight of a new disease. Among the usual casts of this series is Black Jack himself and his trusty daughter, Pooi Pooi (Chinese Translated) who seems a bit too mature for her age. Yet the mystery still remains, who is she actually? And if she's Black Jack's daughter, who's the mother?
