When I first saw this, the first word that came out of my mouth was "wow"! While Angel Links doesn't break any new ground in the plot department, the visuals definitely kick ass. The art of AL is eye-poppingly incredible! Every aspect is beautifully and uniquely designed -- from the characters to the ships! There's nothing generic in AL, unlike in some anime where characters and things look more or less the same. The storyline had the potential to be different, had they stuck to the unique elements more closely. AL tends to bounce back and forth from one point to another. Sometimes they'll be focusing on the mystery of Meifon's past, yet in others the main thrust would be on their job of protecting people. This approach makes AL seem like just another typical space show and therefore nothing special. The main character Meifon has this cute little pet called "Taffei" that transforms into her sword. She also wears this skimpy pink suit that shows a lot of her chest, and it cracked me up a bit as to *where* Taffei hides when he is not needed. The English dubbing is very good, and the voices suited the characters nicely. They kept the dubbed version very similar to the original. Overall, I'd recommend this to basically anyone who enjoys space-type anime. Be warned though that there is some slight nudity towards the end of the series.
