Tetsuo:
Is granted powerful psychokinetic powers after a bike accident and meeting Takashi.

Kaneda:
Tetsuo's friend, leader of a bike gang.

Yama(gata):
Usually addressed as Yama, his full name, Yamagata is notfrequently used in the movie. Member of Kaneda's bike gang, and a friend of Tetsuo's.

Kaye:
Escaped from jail along with Kaneda and his gang. Kaye is given powerful psychokinetic powers by Kyoko. Friend of Ryu's.

The Strange Ones: Takashi, Kyoko, and Masaru

Takashi (Number 26):
Awakens powerful psychokinetic powers in Tetsuo. Is being held prisoner by the army. Posesses powerful psychokinetic powers.

Masaru (Also possibly "Hasaru") (Number 27):
A fat, small, child. Comes with "The Colonel" to have Takashi come back to their facility. Flies around in a hovering chair. Posesses powerful psychokinetic powers

Kyoko (Number 28):
A girl, who possesses possibly the most powerful psychokinetic powers, aside from Tetsuo and Akira. Posessed a psychic ability, as well. Whenever she had a dream, it always came true.

"The President":
A fat, disfigured man. Frequently had to ingest white pills. Ultimately killed by Ryu.

"The Colonel":
Leader of the Army.

"The Doctor":
Leader of "The Akira Project". Conducted research on the powerful psychokinetic powers that the children possessed.

Akira:
Most powerful of the children. He was destroyed, and put into cold storage at the Olympic park. Ressurected by Tetsuo, and employed by the strange ones to banish Tetsuo to oblivion.
